N1118 has a ceiling Mic mounted in the front of the room between the front table and the Instructor's station. When lecturing in a Zoom meeting, you can move within 12 feet of the microphone, and the remote participants will still be able to hear you.  

 

Power

Turning On a Classroom/Desktop Computer

  1. On the back of the computer monitor, will be the computer
  1. Press the button on the top of the computer, this is the power button
  1. The power button will turn white when powered on
 
 

Turning On a Classroom Computer Monitor

  1. Locate the bottom right of the computer monitor
  2. Press the button on the far right
  3. The power button will turn white when powered on
 
 

Turning On the Equipment in a SpecTech Classroom with the Touch Panel

Note

This will turn the room system On, including the Clear Touch monitor and cameras. You will still need to power On the PC and monitor if using the room PC.

 
  1. If the touch panel screen is black (sleeping), press the screen to wake
  1. Select Start
 
 

Turning Off the Equipment in a SpecTech Classroom with the Touch Panel

Note

In addition to powering the system Off, you must log your profile out of the PC. The touch panel does not power the PC On or Off.

 
  1. Press the Power button on the touch panel
  1. Confirm that you would like to shut the system down by pressing Power Down

Display the Instructor Computer Screen using the Touch Panel

  1. On the touch panel, select the PC source
  1. The Instructor's computer screen will now be projected on the Clear Touch monitor
 
 

Show a Blu-ray/DVD using the Touch Panel

Note

The Blu-ray player is intended for in-room instruction only and cannot be used to share over Zoom.

The Blu-ray player is located inside the instructor's station cabinet, below the PC.

 
  1. Select the Blu-ray source on the touch panel
  1. Press the eject button on the Blu-ray player
  1. Insert your Blu-ray/DVD into the tray
  1. Press the eject button again to close the tray
  1. Use navigation buttons on the touch panel to play your Blu-ray
 
 

Display a Personal Device using the Touch Panel

  1. Locate the Cable Cubby on the instructor's station
  1. Connect the HDMI cable to your laptop
  1. Connect the HDMI and the USB cables if you want to utilize the Clear Touch capabilities with your device
  1. On the touch panel, select the Laptop source
 
 

Utilizing the Document Camera using the Touch Panel

  1. Place your document on the table at the front of the room beneath the Document Camera mounted to the Ceiling
  1. Select the Doc Cam input on the touch panel
  1. Use the Plus and Minus buttons to Zoom In or Out
  1. Use the Up, Down, and Auto buttons to focus on the image
  1. Select the Home button to set the camera to its original fixed position
 
 

Starting a Zoom Meeting in Class

Note

There are a variety of ways to start your Zoom meeting for class. You can launch the Zoom App on the PC, sign in to the App, and select your prescheduled meeting from there. You can also open your Outlook invite and click the link in the invite to start the meeting.

It is also important to note that only the camera system in the room can be used for Zoom on the in-room PC and not a personal device such as a laptop.

 

If the remote participants are not able to see or hear the class, ensure that the correct camera and mic are selected in the Zoom window.

 
  1. After launching the Zoom meeting on the instructor's PC, turn to the touch panel to choose a Camera angle for your remote participants
  2. On the PC input, select Camera Control
  1. Select a Camera Preset Zone
  1. After selecting a Preset Zone, you can fine-tune the camera angle using the directional arrows for the cameras based on which camera you are choosing
  1. The Plus and Minus buttons will allow you to Zoom In or Out
 
 

Changing the Side Display Input using the Touch Panel

In N1118, there is a large Clear Touch monitor and a smaller Panasonic monitor. By default, they will both display the same image, but you can send a different image to the Panasonic monitor.

 
  1. On the touch panel, choose Input Select
  1. You can select any input source to send to the Panasonic monitor
  1. Select Close to return to the main screen
  1. You can turn the side display off using On or Off under Side Display Controls
 
 

Changing the PC Monitor Input using the Touch Panel

Info

If you would like to display a different input on the PC Monitor at the Instructor's station than what is showing on the Clear Touch Monitor and Panasonic monitor at the front of the room, you can use the touch panel.

 
  1. Select Monitor Input Select
  1.  Choose the Input that you want to only display on the PC monitor
  1. Select Close to go back to the main screen
 
 

Hiding/Display Mute using the Touch Panel

Note

The Mute Displays button will allow you to make the Clear Touch monitor and the Side display go black. This will hide any content from the class and can be used on any video source.

 
  1. Press Mute Displays to mute the screens
  1. Press Displays Muted to send content back to the displays
 
 

Connecting a USB Drive 

  • On the left side of the computer monitor, there are 2 USB ports
  • On the front of the instructor's computer, there is 1 USB port
  • On the front of the display on the bottom right side, there are 2 USB ports
 
 
 
 

Audio

Volume Controls on the Touch Panel

  • To adjust the system volume in the room, use the Volume slider
  • To mute the room audio, press Mute Audio
  • To unmute the room audio, press Mute Audio again
 
 

Classroom Phone

Internal Phone Calls Only

  • Your Classroom Number and Extension
  • Campus Security Button - Calls your Campus' Security
  • ServiceDesk Button - Calls the ITS ServiceDesk
  • Do not Disturb Button - Mutes the Phone Ringer
 
 
 
 

Microscope

Note

The microscope can be used at the front table or the instructor station. When finished using it, please return to the front table, power it off, and place the protective cover back on.

 

Using the Microscope

  1. Remove the cover
  1. Plug in the microscope USB cable 
    1. USB at the front table
  1. USB at the instructor station
  1. Plug in the power cable
    1. Power at the front table
  1. Power at the instructor station
  1. Power on the microscope
  1. After logging in to the PC, select the PC input on the touch panel to project the image on the Clear Touch monitor
  1. Launch the LAS EZ software on the instructor's PC
