Errors Based on Student Characteristics

These errors show in top right corner of Student Planning when you go to Plan and Schedule.

Registration DENIED - Financial Hold

You have a financial obligation with the college. Log onto the Online Student Account Center to view and pay your balance. Contact Student Accounts for assistance.

Registration DENIED - Contact Dean of Students

A restriction has been placed on your record that restricts your enrollment. Contact the Dean of Students to understand what you need to do to return to campus.

Verify Identity - Show ID to Registration or Advising

There was a problem finalizing your admissions application. Please verify and show a photo ID to Registration or Advising, by joining the Welcome Center or stopping in to the Registration Office.

Go to User Profile and confirm or update your *address*, *email address*, *phone*.

Students are asked to confirm their contact information each term, or at least once per year. Go to your User Profile in Self-Service and confirm all your contact information - postal address, personal email address and phone information. All three items need to be confirmed yearly. See Help Center article for instructions.

Need Contact Information - check User Profile

A restriction has been placed on your record because of an undeliverable mail or email, or incorrect phone number. Go to your User Profile in Self-Service and confirm all your contact information - postal address, personal email address and phone information. Once you correct the information, visit Registration or drop in with the Virtual Registration Welcome Center to have the restriction lifted from your record.

This specific office has placed a restriction on your record because they need to confirm some information about you. Visit Registration or drop in with the Virtual Registration Welcome Center. To contact Registrar, email registrar@ccac.edu.

Errors based on Courses/Sections 

The following errors display in the top right corner of Plan and Schedule when you try to Register Now. 

You must accept your Student Financial Responsibility Agreement

Each term, students are required to accept the Student Financial Responsibility Agreement before you register for classes that semester. Go to Self-Service Requested Agreements to accept your SFRA for the requested term.

Don't see the SFRA for the term requested? Visit Registration or drop in with the Virtual Registration Welcome Center and our staff will add the agreement for you to accept.

Can't log in to Self-Service? You will need to complete and electronically sign the digital Registration Form, which can be found under Registration & Advising Forms.

Courses must be approved by advisor - New Student

You need to see an advisor the first time you register for classes at CCAC. See Advising for information about Virtual or Walk-in advising.

Need to placement test/placed in development classes need advisor approval

This error will display for:

  • Students who have not yet completed required placement testing, or
  • Students who have placed into developmental english/reading/math courses and have not completed the developmental sequence, or ready to take college-level english or mathematics.

Your courses need to be approved by an academic advisor. See Advising for information about Virtual or Walk-in advising.

If you are required to take placement tests and have not yet tested, see Placement Testing.

If you think you should not need advisor approval, email advising@ccac.edu. If you have previous college coursework in english or math, you should provide an unofficial transcript to the advisor so we can record this exemption.

WARNING: The following required prerequisite for course ***-*** is not started 

You do not meet the prerequisite for the course you are trying to register. You must take the pre-requisite course first. If you have completed the pre-requisite course at another college, you should provide an unofficial transcript to advising@ccac.edu and an academic advisor may request a pre-requisite waiver for you to enroll in the course.

Faculty add authorization is required to add the section at this time

Students may add a course during the first week of class (or the first two days for sections that are 10 weeks or under) ONLY with permission of the instructor. You may contact the instructor to request permission to add before this deadline. 

  • Faculty may provide the "add authorization" within Self-Service; if they do so, you may then register via Self-Service;
  • If faculty provide their permission via email, forward this email to registration@ccac.edu

Priority Registration Not Yet Permitted

For Fall and Spring terms, there is a Priority Registration period that gives preference to: Veterans and their Dependents; Honors students; and Returning students, based on your Roadmap level (determined by number of completed college-level classes).

If you have questions about your Registration Priority date, visit Registration or drop in with the Virtual Registration Welcome Center to confirm your date.

Missing academic program or home location - visit Welcome Center

You do not have a valid academic program to register for credit classes. This normally happens when students have not attended CCAC for two or more years. Visit Registration or drop in with the Virtual Registration Welcome Center. If you need assistance in selecting a new program, see Advising for information about Virtual or Walk-in advising.

Student doesn't have SSN on file

We are missing your Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN). Visit Registration or drop in with the Virtual Registration Welcome Center and show us your SSN/ITIN card. International Students can obtain assistance from the International Students Office

Dual Enrollment HS Student - submit forms to registration

If you are currently enrolled in high school, you must see an academic advisor and complete your dual enrollment registration forms in order to register. See Dual Enrollment for registration procedures.

If you have graduated from high school, contact advising@ccac.edu to declare your academic program for college.

Probation - Courses must be approved by an Advisor

You have been placed on Academic Probation and must see an academic advisor to register each term. You will be limited to enrolling in 10 credits.  See Advising for information about Virtual or Walk-in advising.

Suspension - Courses must be approved by a Counselor

You have been placed on Academic Suspension. You may enroll in classes if:

  • You have filed an appeal and it was approved;
  • You have sat out two terms and are eligible to return;
  • You are "progressing" after your return or appeal and achieved satisfactory grades each term.

Until you return to good standing, you must meet with a counselor who will approve the courses you may take each term. See Counseling Services to meet in-person or join a virtual chat session.

Suspension no appeal - Must sit out 2 terms

You have been placed on Academic Suspension and may not enroll in classes if:

  • You have not filed a Suspension appeal;
  • Your Suspension appeal was denied;
  • You have failed to achieve satisfactory grades within your suspension.

If you feel you are ready to return, you should meet with a counselor to review your academic standing. See Counseling Services to meet in-person or join a virtual chat session.

Summer Credits OverLoad - Over 12 credits needs approval

Students in good standing may take up to 18 credits in the fall and the spring terms, and up to 12 credits in the summer. To exceed this maximum, students will need permission from the Senior Director of Advising or appropriate designee.

Visit with an academic advisor to seek approval. See Advising for information about Virtual or Walk-in advising.

Student must register for SEM-105

All first-time* college students must enroll in SEM 105 - College Seminar within the first 9 credits at CCAC, with the exception of visiting students and students who have successfully completed 15 or more credits from another post-secondary institution. Dual enrollment students will not be required to take the course while in high school, but will be required to complete the course during their first semester at CCAC regardless of the number of credits earned through dual enrollment courses. Students who are admitted directly into nursing, joint union apprenticeship programs, and allied health and trade certificate programs are also exempt.

Students should add SEM-105 to their schedule. Check in with Advising if you are receiving this message when you are exempt based on the above rule.

Athletes must register for at least 12 credits

Student athletes must maintain a full-time academic load to be eligible to play their sport. Please add additional classes and register for all classes at the same time. If you have questions, please contact the CCAC Athletic Director

International Students must register for at least 12 credits - or - can only register for 1 online class

International Students with F1 Visa must maintain a full-time academic load to remain eligible to study in the US. Also, they cannot enroll in more than 1 online class (includes online, remote or hybrid). Please adjust your planned courses and register for all classes at the same time. Contact the International Students Office if you have questions.

The course section that you are attempting to register for is blocked for either:

  • Students admitted into a limited enrollment program (ex: Nursing, Allied Health, etc). If you think your academic program needs to be corrected, email registration@ccac.edu
  • A special group of students. 

If you are not a member of this specific cohort or special group, select another section.
